We're excited to offer UU Kids Camp in the summer of 2026! First Unitarian's 4-day/3-night sleep-away summer camp for 3rd-12th graders in Los Alamos, NM at the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos.
This year brings some important changes, but the heart of camp remains the same. We are still creating a place for kids and youth to live, play, and learn together in a UU values-centered community. We hope camp will help campers feel connected to something bigger than their home congregation and to each other as part of a wider UU family.

By moving camp to the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos, campers from the region can gather as part of a wider UU family and feel held by something bigger than their home congregation.
We can preserve the beloved traditions that have formed over the past 35 years, like the songs, the games, being in nature, building sacred spaces, and remembering that FUN is a spiritual practice.
What felt like a difficult detour from our previous location may actually be a path back to the heart of camp: community, belonging, and spiritual formation.
We believe this new home for camp can become a spiritual home, where friendships deepen, faith grows, and we remember that we are each other’s community.
A typical day at camp includes breakfast, all-camp games and songs, circle time, camp groups, lunch, quiet time, craftivities, vespers, dinner, campfire, and bedtime.
Campers and CITs will sleep in classrooms at the church. Please send a sleeping pad, air mattress, or cot with your camper.
We follow safe church best practices, including two unrelated adults with campers and CITs during all activities, and open doors in all sleeping areas.
Every camper must have a completed medication form at check-in, even if they are not bringing medication. Camp health staff will manage medications and basic health needs during camp.
Families will be responsible for getting campers to and from camp this year. Carpooling is encouraged, and we will provide a carpool coordination sheet for registered families.
During camp, we expect to walk to nearby locations when we go offsite. The Los Alamos church has also generously offered use of a van during camp if needed, and approved camp drivers may transport campers as necessary.
UU Kids Camp is led by a volunteer-staff partnership. Meghan Shattuck and Alana Rodriguez co-direct camp, with support from volunteers and staff at both congregations.
We may still need a few additional volunteers depending on final enrollment. If you are interested in helping, please contact Alana or Meghan.
If you have questions, please reach out. We are looking forward to another wonderful year of camp.
